COMPASS

COMPASS is an online tool for Pennsylvanians to apply for and manage benefit information with many Health and Human Services programs including:

  • Medical Assistance.
  • CHIP
  • Cash Assistance
  • Child Care Works Program
  • SNAP
  • LIHEAP
  • School Meals
  • Long Term Living Services

Medical Assistance

Pennsylvania’s Medical Assistance program provides you and your family with several health care options.

  • Medical Assistance (Medicaid or MA)
  • CHIP
  • Medicaid for Former Foster Youth

You can apply if you do not know if you are eligible.  There are different ways to apply. Please choose the option that suits you best.

Medicare

Medicare is a federal health insurance program that provides benefits to American citizens and permanent legal residents (of at least five continuous years) aged 65 and older, or who have a qualifying disability or illness.

Local Food Banks

Food banks offer food assistance services  through a network of nearly 3,000 local charitable partners — including food pantries, soup kitchens, feeding programs, and shelters. Please contact your local food bank directly for assistance.

WIC (PA Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children)

WIC offers nutrition services, breastfeeding support, health care and social service referrals, and healthy foods to eligible families.

SNAP

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps eligible low-income households supplement their food budget. 

Mental Health Resources

Find resources for mental health and substance use disorders. Get more information about:

  • Live support helplines available 24/7 for those in crisis 
  • Help for those with Heroin and Opioid Use Disorder
  • Veterans resources
  • Children/Adolescent resources
  • Adult/Older Adults resources

Donate Life Pennsylvania

Thousands die every year waiting for a donated organ, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Register now, and you could save up to 8 lives. DLPA works to educate PA residents, build awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation and increase the number of signups.

LIHEAP

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps families living on low incomes pay their heating bills in the form of a cash grant.

Cash Assistance

If you have low income and limited resources, you may be able to receive cash assistance through Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or General Assistance.
