Other Health Coverage Options

If you do not qualify for Pennie coverage or financial savings, there are still options for you.

Health Care and Coverage Options Beyond Pennie

Due to recent federal changes, more people do not qualify for coverage or financial savings through Pennie. This can mean Pennie coverage is not an option for you, however, there are several other ways to find health coverage and care

Here are some options for you to consider:

  • You may purchase a health plan directly from your health insurance company.
  • Contact your employer to see if there is an employer-sponsored health insurance option available.
  • If you are experiencing an emergency medical condition, help may be available. You may qualify for health coverage available to you through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.  Contact your local County Assistance Office or call the Customer Service Center at 1-866-550-4355.
  • Health plans outside of Pennie might say they are comprehensive, but many cut out important benefits such as coverage for pre-existing conditions and free preventative services. When the price of the plan is lower, this could mean the costs are shifted to you when you receive care. Know before you go: click here for a cheat sheet with the questions to ask before you enroll in health coverage elsewhere.
